DRAG Max: Two-Battery Power
The VOOPOO DRAG Max Pod Kit needs two 18650 batteries. You can take them out to charge or swap them. There is no battery sealed inside it. The cells are not in the box. Buy a matched pair and fit them as shown in the battery bay. Do not mix old cells with new ones. Carry spare cells in a case, not loose in a pocket. Coins or keys can short exposed battery contacts.
Power runs from 5W up to 177W. This is the mod's top limit, not the right setting for every coil. You can replace PnP coils and swap the power cells without buying a whole new kit. Leather panels sit on the metal body, while the pod holds in place with magnets.
SMART and RBA Modes
The GENE.FAN 2.0 chip offers two main ways to set the output. In SMART mode, the device reads the installed coil and helps select a suitable power level. In RBA mode, you control the wattage yourself. RBA means rebuildable atomiser, but selecting this mode does not mean a rebuildable coil is supplied.
To change modes, tap the fire key three times. Read the power rating on your coil before you turn the watts up. Do this even in SMART mode. Do not use the 177W limit as a coil setting.
The 2ml Magnetic Pod
The UK DRAG Max has a 2ml PnP pod that you can refill. VOOPOO also lists a 4.5ml pod for markets abroad. That is not the UK pod size. Magnets hold the pod in place, so you can pull it out without taking the tank apart.
To refill, remove the pod. Then open its rubber fill seal. Fill through its port and close it well. Keep juice off the metal contacts. The PnP coil comes out of the pod base when it wears out. With a fresh coil, fill the pod and let the wick soak before you use it. Wipe the pod dry before you push it back onto the metal contacts. Check that the fill seal is shut.
Check that any spare pod holds 2ml and fits this DRAG Max model. Newer PnP-X parts are not a safe choice without a fit check.
VM5 and VM6 Coils
The kit has two mesh coil types:
- PnP-VM5, 0.2Ω: rated for 40–60W.
- PnP-VM6, 0.15Ω: rated for 60–80W.
Both coils suit a direct-lung (DL) draw. With DL, vapour goes straight into the lungs. Keep the watts within the limit for the coil you fit. Other original PnP coils may work, but use their own power limits. The VOOPOO PnP coils page lists VM5 and VM6. Confirm stock for your coil type.
A 70/30 VG/PG liquid can suit these low-ohm coils. VG means vegetable glycerine, while PG means propylene glycol. The IVG Select 50ml shortfill is labelled 70% VG and 30% PG. Match your liquid to the coil, not just the kit name.
Screen, Charging and Contents
The 1.08-inch TFT colour screen shows power and key settings. There are two screen themes. Press + and - at once to open the theme menu. The mod uses USB-C for charging, with a 5V/2A input.
Treat both cells as a pair. Use the same type and age, and check each wrap for tears. A Nitecore i4 charger can charge the cells outside the mod. It does not include the two cells you need.

DRAG Max FAQs
Are the 18650 batteries included?
No. The mod needs two 18650 cells, and you must buy them on their own.
Can it run on one battery?
No. It needs a pair of cells. The VOOPOO DRAG X Pod Kit uses only one 18650.
Should I use the full 177W with VM6?
No. The VM6 is rated for 60–80W, not the full 177W.
Do PnP-X coils fit?
Not as a proven direct swap. This mod uses original PnP parts. Check the fit first.
Can I choose another PnP resistance?
Yes, if it fits. Check the power rating for each type in VOOPOO coils.
Is the pod 4.5ml?
No. The UK pod is 2ml. The 4.5ml version is for other markets.
